Having successfully concluded 2014’s programming, the Supanova Pop Culture Expo is already well into preparations for 2015 and is excited to announce an amazing variety of Supa-Stars in launching the Melbourne (11-12 April) and Gold Coast (18-19 April) Supanova Expos. The enduring kids’ action franchise Mighty Morphin Power Rangers has been around for over 20 years, and veteran actor and martial artist Jason David Frank (as Tommy Oliver) has been in it for the long haul. Jason has undergone numerous reincarnations as the Green, White, White Ninja, Red Zeo, Red Turbo and Black Dino rangers. Medieval fantasy fans thoroughly enjoyed the recent Merlin TV series and actors, Eoin Macken (Sir Gwaine) and Alexander Vlahos (Mordred), who had to postpone their November 2014 appearances, are now welcome additions to April 2015’s cast. Jessica DiCicco is a Daytime Emmy nominated actress best known for her voice-over work, bringing to life Malina in The Emperor’s New School, and the hot-headed Flame Princess in Adventure Time. Some of Jessica’s other voice-acting credits include Over the Hedge, Gravity Falls, and Pound Puppies. Todd Haberkorn is an American stage, screen and voice actor with an extensive back-catalogue of credits to his name. Todd is particularly well known for his Animé (Japanese animation) work, voicing numerous characters across several major series, including Death the Kid in Soul Eater, Moe Shishigawara in Bleach, and Ling Yao in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Zombies are so hot right now and Supanova has two epic artists visiting in April: Artist Arthur Suydam is the ‘Zombie King’ and Heavy Metal royalty: he’s respected in the comic scene for his unique style, and was instrumental in galvanising the comic art “renaissance” of the 1980s. Suydam’s art has graced the covers of many leading comic book titles, including Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth, Marvel Zombies and Wolverine. Tony Moore is one of the original creators behind the smash-hit transmedia zombie series, The Walking Dead. Moore, the co-creator and artist for the comics that were adapted into the series, was nominated for two Eisner Awards (2004: Best New Series, and 2005: Best Cover Artist) for his illustrations. He went on to co-create the booze-fueled space western, Fear Agent, and recently worked on the Venom and Deadpool re-launches. ‘Space opera’ writer Peter F. Hamilton has received critical acclaim for his best-selling sci-fi novels, the Greg Mandel series and The Night’s Dawn trilogy. The British author began writing professionally in 1987, publishing his first novel in the Mandel series, Mindstar Rising, in 1993. Multi award-winning author John Scalzi is best known for his Science Fiction series, The Old Man’s War. He also served as a creative consultant for the series Stargate Universe. Syfy recently announced the development of a TV series based on The Old Man’s War, naming it The Ghost Brigades after the second novel in the set. The much-loved ‘Nerd Rock’ band Kirby Krackle hails from Seattle, Washington. Krackle’s front-man and vocalist Kyle Stevens brings high-energy rock‘n’roll music with a pop-culture twist: the songs reference everything from comic books to video games. Having recently supported Weird Al Yankovic as part of his “Apocalypse” world tour, fans can expect some great, upbeat performances celebrating geek culture. These Supa-Star guests look forward to meeting their fans, signing autographs, and posing for studio portraits at Supanova. There will be Q&A panels in both cities where fans will have the opportunity to ask direct questions of the Supanova Supa-Stars. And this is just the beginning! Expect further guest announcements over the coming months as Supanova goes supernova and explodes with pop-culture stars as April approaches!
