I spent 6 years as National Publicist with The Greater Union Organisation, where I personally developed and orchestrated publicity and promotional campaigns on such international and local film releases as “Country”, “Molly”, “Crosstalk”, “Down And Out In Beverly Hills”, “A Passage To India”, and many others.

During this period I organised media schedules for Charlton Heston, John Cleese, Garry McDonald,, Nicole Kidman,, Slim Dusty, Gregory Harrison, Vince Colosimo, Judy Davis, James Fox, Lord John Brabourne, Sir David Lean, to name a few. This also included working on all the classic Disney films such as “Fantasia”, “Peter Pan”, “Bambi” and many others.

In 1986 I established Lionel Midford Publicity, and I have since personally orchestrated publicity and promotion campaigns for over 41 feature films, 20 stage productions, numerous special events and in excess of 350 concert tours.
